Wool Longies!

Happy New Year everyone!

I started out my New Year's Day sewing. I don't know why.. it just seemed right. What did I come up with, you ask? Here is it what I came up with!

This is my youngest modelling. I just wanted to try them on to make sure the waist was right but she loves them and refuses to take them off now. :) They actually match her dress perfectly!

Another, slightly more lady-like, picture. ( The odd face is because she's saying cheese.lol) See how nice they look? She's currently potty learning so my thought is that we can use these at night over her cloth diaper. I think she might end up wearing them a bit more often though because she really does like them.

I also made a pair in newborn size. I meant for them to also be for baby but the sweater I udes for these ones felted very tight so it wasn't big enough. They still turned out super sweet and the newest addition will be able to wear them. :)

So sweet!
The sweaters I used were bought second hand from Value Village on a half price day. I bought a bunch with the plan to make diaper covers and longies but never got around to it until now. The reason? I'm in a cloth diaper swap and my partner said she would like to try longies. What Luck! I have everything I need to make them here! I just needed to test it out! So here we are! Now I have the perfect sweater pick out for her little guy. Now all I need are his measurements and I'm set.
These really are so easy to make. I felted the sweaters by washing them in a hot/cold cycle then drying on high. I cut off the sleeves, cut the seams down to the inseam, sewed the sleeves together and then made a waistband. Voila! That easy!
If I could remember which site I used as an idea I would post it. Maybe I'll find it again and post it later.
Next project? Recycled wool mittens with the left overs. Pictures to come I'm sure. :)
